Legislative Committees

Consent Calendars

As Legislative Committees deliberate their assigned petitions, there may be proposals for which no plenary debate is recommended. These go to the floor as consent calendar items. There are three consent calendars:

A) concurrence with proposed changes to the Discipline.

B) concurence with petitions on non-Disciplinary matters.

C) non-concurrence on Disciplinary and non-Disciplinary items.

Items can be placed on the consent calendar if no more than five votes were cast against the prevailing position, it has no financial implications, and the proposal does not require a constitutional amendment.

Consent Calendars are numbered sequentially. The first day is A01, second day is A02, etc.

The committees review, sort and refine legislative proposals. No action is final until taken by the General Conference in plenary session. Progress reports from each committee are posted in the News Room each evening and will appear in the next day's issue of the Daily Christian Advocate.
