During and following the General Conference, daily transcripts of the
Conference proceedings will be available here, made possible through the Daily Christian
Advocate.
The Daily Christian Advocate (DCA) is the most important reference for the
General Conference. It contains daily transcripts of the conference proceedings, news
stories and features and daily summaries of legislative committee actions. An advance
edition is available before the conference and then one issue is produced each day of the
conference. A wrap-up edition is available following the close of the conference.
Representatives of all United Methodist and ecumenical publications will be responsible
for ordering their own Daily Christian Advocates (advance and daily issues). Call
Cokesbury at 1-800-672-1789 or visit their web site at http://www.cokesbury.com.
Secular press representatives will find copies of the advance edition available for
reference in the news room. They will also be given complimentary tickets at the News
Assignment Desk which they may exchange at the Cokesbury Display Room for Daily Christian
Advocates during the time they are attending the conference.
Advance Edition (Vol I - Sections 1 and 2) includes all legislative proposals organized
by legislative committees -- $35 (item no. 701327). Handbook for Delegates (Vol. II)
includes names, addresses, and committee assignments for all delegates, information about
the conference, and proposed rules of order -- $7 (item no. 701442). Volumes I and II will
be mailed via United Parcel Service from Nashville on Feb. 24. Foreign copies will be
delivered via the U.S. Postal System.
To get a full report on all actions taken in Cleveland, you may order Daily Reports with a
binder and the Round-up Edition -- $45 (item no. 701624). These editions include news
items, legislative actions, and a verbatim account of the 10-day sessions.
For a brief 16-page summary of conference actions, you may order only the Round-up
Edition -- $3 each; 10 or more copies to the same address, $1 each (item no.
701681).
Daily Reports and the Round-up Edition will be mailed May 15 from Cleveland. The
Round-up Edition will also be included in the July-August edition of Circuit Rider
magazine.
Delegates, first reserves, bishops, Judicial Council members, and the Commission on
General Conference will automatically receive all copies. All others, including the press,
will need to order the materials. For more information or to order any of these items,
call 1-800/672-1789. For editorial concerns, call Rich Peck (615/749-6007).
